Mercedes AMG Petronas has officially debuted the all-new F1 W05 to be used during this year's Formula One season and it is truly a sight to be seen. The car has been developed to coincide with the new rules and regulations put into place for Formula One, while still remaining innovative and expanding the automotive industry's technological efforts.

A Formula One car that dares to be different, the F1 W05 is powered by one of the most complex power units to be built by Brixworth: the PU106A Hybrid Power Unit. It uses a 1.6L V-6 internal combustion engine, reaching a maximum of 15,000 rpm, and works alongside a new pressure charging system to achieve better efficiency. A newly introduced Hybrid Energy Recovery System also increases performance, while Petronas' uniquely made fluid technology improves supports the Power Unit.

"It is always exciting to pull the wraps off a new car for the first time but even more so at the start of this momentous 2014 season," said Toto Wolff, Executive Director (Business) of MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS and Head of Mercedes-Benz Motorsport. "Our new Silver Arrow is the result of a single-minded, integrated approach between our engineering teams. My compliments and thanks go to every team member in Brackley, at Brixworth and also at our key partner, PETRONAS, for their hard work to deliver this new car and the Power Unit at its heart; it is the result of several years of intense effort. But we know that the adventure has only just begun."

Formula One drivers Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg had the honors of unveiling the new F1 W05 late last month in Jerez, Spain. They're were both thrilled with its development and are excited to begin the new Formula One season.

Although you can't get your own F1 W05, you can still come down to Elite Mercedes and take a spin in one of our speedy models built for your own personal use.
