The Mercedes AMG GT is one of the most highly anticipated upcoming cars to date, and to keep excitement growing for its arrival, the automaker has been steadily releasing teasers showing off some of its greatest attributes. From interior pics to performance videos, Mercedes is giving the public just the glimpse they need to see that the AMG GT is a truly special car, and to further express this, the company recently leaked information about its engine specs, which do not disappoint.
Powering the Mercedes AMG GT sport coupe will be a 4.0-L V-8 engine. Known as the M178, it will deliver an astounding 503 horsepower and 479 lb.-ft. of torque. However, due to its smaller size, the AMG GT will be down 60 horsepower compared to the previous SLS AMG, but torque will remain the same. It will also feature turbos between the V-8 engine block and a dry-sump lubrication system, which eliminates the need for a traditional oil pan and moves the engine's center of gravity closer to the road, improving performance.
