When the new Mercedes G-Class arrives in the U.S. this November, fans will notice quite a few changes on the model compared to last year's variant. The newly refreshed G-Class has been outfitted with a number of new components and updated features, including an array of enhanced engines. Each G-Class model has received revised powertrains, but the most notable addition to the lineup comes solely on the G500. The high-end model has been equipped with a 4.0L twin-turbo V8 engine, making it one of the more powerful G-Class models in the lineup.
The new 4.0L twin-turbo V8 offered on the G500 is a retuned version of the engine found in the Mercedes-AMG GT and C63. Delivering 416 horsepower and 450 lb.-ft. of torque, the V8 is able to produce top-notch performance and can jet from zero to 62 mph in 5.9 seconds. In addition to the new V8, three other models in the lineup received a bit more torque and horsepower thanks to engine updates. The AMG G63 now delivers 536 horsepower and 563 lb.-ft. of torque, while the G350d exerts 245 horsepower and 442 lb.-ft. of torque. The G65, which will be heading to the U.S. for the first time year, also earned a power boost and now outputs 621 horsepower and 738 lb.-ft. of torque.
