Specs at a Glance
Few midsize luxury SUVs can compete with the 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLE. The new GLE comes loaded with premium features, and it's also more than capable of taking you on an epic adventure. Superior comfort and engaging driving dynamics make the GLE more rewarding. Let's find out how the 350 trim compares to the 450 trim.
Performance
Performance is the main difference between these two GLE trim levels. If you're seeking additional fuel savings, go with the GLE 350. The SUV's turbo four-cylinder engine develops a more than adequate 255 horsepower. This engine is linked to a quick-shifting, nine-speed automatic transmission. An estimated 0-60 mph time of 7.0 seconds proves that the GLE 350 offers spirited acceleration. While rear-wheel drive is standard, you have access to a 4MATIC® AWD system.
Assisted by a mild-hybrid system, the GLE 450's turbocharged six-cylinder engine raises the performance bar. Output increases to a stout 362 horsepower, thus resulting in a 0-60 mph time of 5.5 seconds. A 4MATIC® AWD system comes standard. Remember that both trims are now rated to tow up to 7,700 pounds.
Appearance
The GLE definitely commands a lot of attention on the road. Rugged styling cues help it to stand out from the crowd. Sleek LED exterior lights further enhance the GLE's curb appeal. Mercedes-Benz installs an attractive set of 19-inch alloy wheels to accentuate the vehicle's muscular stance. From an appearance standpoint, there are no big differences between the GLE 350 and the GLE 450.
Features
When behind the wheel of the GLE 350, you will be surrounded by a number of high-end features. Its new MBUX interface boasts twin 12.3-inch screens. All of today's hottest infotainment features include wireless smartphone connectivity and enhanced voice recognition. Every passenger can make use of the vehicle's onboard Wi-Fi hotspot. Mercedes-Benz includes heated front seats as standard equipment to ensure elevated comfort on cold days. Other highlights include dual-zone automatic climate control, fast-charging USB ports, a power sunroof, and a collection of advanced safety technologies. The more powerful GLE 450 is similarly equipped.
