Specs at a Glance

Mercedes-Benz's latest lineup will leave you impressed if you’re in the market for a new luxury SUV. Many drivers will choose between the 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLE and the 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLS. While midsize GLE perfectly matches most families, the larger GLS provides even more interior space. Let’s take a closer look at how these two models compare.

Performance

The GLE gives you multiple powertrains to choose from. Every new GLE now features hybrid electrification, which effectively aids performance and efficiency. A turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 255 horsepower comes standard. Drivers who need more muscle can upgrade to a turbocharged inline-six engine with 375 horsepower. Rated to develop a splendid 510 horsepower, this SUV’s available twin-turbo V8 engine packs even more muscle. When properly equipped, the GLE can tow up to 7,700 pounds.

Like the GLE, the GLS also boasts a maximum towing capacity of around 7,700 pounds. While its standard turbocharged inline-six engine develops 375 horsepower, you can use a twin-turbo V8 engine with 510 horsepower. Remember that both SUVs come standard with a 4MATIC® AWD system, thus giving you maximum traction during slippery conditions.

Appearance

The 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLE flaunts an updated front fascia. It brings new lighting elements, a revised bumper, and a tweaked grille. Restyled wheels arrive as well. Mercedes-Benz offers a couple of eye-catching appearance packages for drivers who desire a more attention-grabbing look.

The GLS also has a fresh look. Its more striking radiator grille definitely stands out. New LED taillights are found in the rear. While this SUV’s optional AMG Line Package is sporty, some drivers will desire the available Night Package’s blacked-out treatments.

Features

Several premium features are available for the new GLE. Its widescreen dash features twin 12.3-inch displays. Intuitive touch controls and MBUX voice recognition make the interface especially easy to operate. Families will enjoy the SUV’s mobile Wi-Fi hotspot. Available upgrades include a powerful Burmester surround-sound system, a head-up display, four-zone automatic climate control, and massaging seats.

In contrast to the GLE, the GLS comes standard with three-row seating. A 13-speaker Burmester surround-sound system and four-zone automatic climate control are also on the vehicle’s list of standard equipment. As expected, several other high-end amenities are offered.
