Mercedes is currently preparing to redefine the luxury market by releasing an all-new midsize pickup by the end of the decade. The German automaker believes the truck is the perfect model for expanding their global lineup and has appointed Mercedes-Benz Vans to handle the project. The pickup is currently slated to launch in Latin America, South Africa, Australia and Europe; however, there's a chance the U.S. market may also receive the truck when it arrives by 2020.

With more drivers looking to utilize midsize pickups for personal use and others searching for trucks with car-like specs, Mercedes decided it would be a good idea to enter the market. They are the first luxury brand to take this step and they have every intention of making the pickup a worldwide hit.

"We can perfectly serve customers looking for a vehicle that offers a high level of utility and at the same time has the comfort, safety, and design of a Mercedes-Benz passenger car," says Volker Mornhinweg, Head of Mercedes-Benz Vans. "We will design our brand's first pickup according to this recipe for success."

According to Mercedes-Benz USA CEO Steve Cannon, the all-new pickup could also benefit drivers in the U.S. who are looking for a luxurious truck that also has incredible towing capabilities. The brand currently has until the end of 2015 to decide if the U.S. will indeed receive the pickup in addition to the four previously mentioned markets.
