The Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe Concept, which premiered at this year's Shanghai Motor Show, will officially go into production in 2016. This new information was recently confirmed by the brand itself during an event following the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show in Frankfurt, Germany.
When the Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe Concept appeared in Shanghai earlier this year, many predicted a production model would soon be on its way. It's been a solid six months since it was introduced to the world and just recently Mercedes-Benz's G-Class Head Honcho Dr. Gunnar Güthenke announced what we already saw coming: the arrival of a GLC Coupe production model next year.
If the concept version of the GLC Coupe is any indication of what the production version will look like, the model will likely debut with a muscular exterior design showcasing distinct character lines, a 111.4-inch wheelbase and a twin-turbo 3.0L V6, delivering 367 horsepower and 387 lb.-ft. of torque. It's also likely to sport 4Matic all-wheel drive and come packed with a nine-speed automatic transmission that will help support its power offerings.
With the company's crossover and SUV sales up 25 percent this year, it's easy to see why Mercedes-Benz would decide to green-light production of the GLC Coupe. Head over to Elite Mercedes when the official production model is released on the market to see what it has to offer.
