As a full-fledged car enthusiast and ex-TV host, Jay Leno has had the pleasure of getting behind the wheel of some of the most legendary cars in the automotive industry. With so many vehicles checked off his bucket list, it's not often he's truly star struck by a model featured on his web series, "Jay Leno’s Garage." However, when he recently got the chance to highlight a 1970 Mercedes-Benz C111-II concept car on his show, he was beyond thrilled.

On loan from the Mercedes-Benz Classics Center in Irvine, Calif., the C111-II concept showcased on Leno's web series originally debuted in 1970. It's based off the first C111 concept that was unveiled in 1969 and featured a mid-mounted three-rotor engine, a supercar wedge-shaped design and gullwing doors. Unlike the C111, the C111-II concept was outfitted with a four-rotor engine during its early years; however, it eventually adopted a V8 displacement which can be found in the car today.

To get a complete rundown of the car's background and see Jay Leno gush over the unique concept built by Mercedes-Benz, check out the full episode of "Jay Leno's Garage" below. If you want to bypass the vehicle history and go straight to seeing it in action, be sure to fast-forward to the end of the video.
