Recent reports from various automotive sources suggest that Mercedes-AMG could be getting ready to develop an all-new hybrid hypercar that would compete with other high-profile car manufacturers in the auto industry. Expected to sit just above the Mercedes-AMG GT, the model would replace the GT as the brand's signature performance vehicle.
At one point in time, the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG was looked at as the automaker's ultimate high-performance vehicle. This spot was eventually taken over by the Mercedes-AMG GT and now it seems the position could be replaced once again by an all-new hybrid hypercar. While Mercedes-Benz has plans to expand the GT lineup over the next few years, it's also being said that the company is working on creating a new halo car that would be powered by the manufacturer's upcoming 12-cylinder, which is currently in development. The 12-cylinder will come paired with an electric motor and battery pack, with the ability to deliver incredible performance that surpasses that of the Mercedes-AMG GT.
With the ability to offer first-class power and fuel economy, a Mercedes-AMG hybrid hypercar would fit nicely into the lineup. We have yet to receive any official information regarding the rumored model, but if it is in the company's long-term plans, we can expect to receive details in the near future.
