Mercedes-Benz’s German road warrior, the G500 4x4², could potentially make its way to the U.S. market in the near future. The colossal ‘ute, which made its mark on the German market just last year, has had Americans excited since it first debuted in concept form at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show and Mercedes-Benz execs think it may be time to give American fans what they want.

A modern take on the former Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG 6x6, the G500 4x4² is built for adventurous drivers. It comes complete with a wide track, portal axles, improved suspension, 22-inch wheels, 325/55-section tires and almost two feet of ground clearance, making it an off-roader’s dream. Additionally, the model packs a 4.0L twin-turbo V8 engine with the ability to deliver 422 horsepower to all four wheels.

Mercedes-Benz’s U.S. general manager of product planning, Bart Herring, is the latest source to comment on the G500 4x4²’s potential launch in the U.S., stating the brand is “very close to a good decision.” We’re hoping that means we’ll receive confirmation regarding its arrival very soon, but there’s no telling when Mercedes-Benz will release an official statement.
