Move over Tesla, because Mercedes-Benz is ready to take over the electric car segment. Word around the automotive world is that the German manufacturer will be premiering an all-new high-performance electric sedan at the upcoming Paris Auto Show this September that will blow Tesla out of the water. Said to appear in concept form, the new model could mean big things for the evolution of the Mercedes-Benz lineup.

Reports from Motoring suggest the new concept electric car could debut with an all-wheel-drive configuration and a 300-mile single-charge driving range. The car is also expected to match the Tesla Model S when it comes to performance, which many car shoppers will surely approve of. We’re also likely to see the new electric car arrive on the market very soon, as it’s currently slated to debut just in time for the 2018 model year.

Over the past few months, news has been circulating regarding Mercedes-Benz’s plan to release four new electric cars by 2020 and this new model would fall right within that time frame. As of now, the company only has one all-electric model in their lineup: the B-Class EV.
