The fifth installment of the “Transformers” movie franchise is on its way and when it lands in theaters next summer there will be a brand-new model in the film’s car roster: the Mercedes-AMG GT R.
In “Transformers: The Last Knight,” “Drift” will be the lucky Autobot to transform into the black and red Mercedes-AMG GT R. Director of the film, Michael Bay, felt the new supercar was a great fit for Drift, which previously transformed into a Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse.
Drift will be accompanied in the movie by other popular Autobots, including “Bumblebee,” which transforms into a Chevy Camaro, and “Barricade,” which transforms into a 2016 Ford Mustang. Several other Autobots will also make appearances throughout the flick, but we can guarantee none will transform into a car more spectacular and appealing than the Mercedes-AMG GT R.
Generating 577 horsepower and 516 lb.-ft. of torque, the GT R’s 4.0L twin-turbo V8 engine is a beast. In addition to the power output, the supercar features top-of-the-line software, a striking grille, a wider track and an oversized spoiler that completes its menacing look.
