‘Tis the season to light up your spirit and make lifetime memories in our city’s beautiful downtown. From Saturday, Nov. 19-Dec. 31, gather your family and friends and experience a wide variety of awe-inspiring festivities in Springfield.
To kick things off, there will be a tree lighting ceremony at Park Central Square starting on that Saturday at 7 p.m. As you gaze upon the 33-foot Christmas tree’s festive lights, you’ll get to warm your palette with free hot chocolate. When you’re done, cruise the streets in a free horse-drawn carriage; rides will run every Friday and Saturday from 6-9 p.m.
In addition, you’ll get a chance to check out one or several of the various holiday shows that are set to take place throughout November and December, as well as take part in the 22nd Annual Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot.

Drawing more than 7,000 participants each year, Springfield’s Turkey Trot is one event you won’t want to miss. Starting at 8 a.m. in the city’s downtown, the timed 5K run/walk is the perfect opportunity to lace up your shoes and hit the pavement for a little exercise with your friends and family. All proceeds will go toward providing free meals to those in need. We hope you have a great time at all these exciting events!
