What's New For the 2019 Mercedes-Benz G-Class?

The G-Class has been completely redesigned for 2019. The Mercedes-Benz G-Class has long had its own cult following, but its new updates are set to give the famous Mercedes-Benz wagon mass appeal. Outside, you'll recognize its classic, sporty shape. However, on the road, the new G-Class is more refined and comfortable than ever before. In addition to smoother cruising, you'll also find a newly stylish cabin to suit the G-Class price tag. The new wagon is also longer and wider, with most of the extra space going toward increased rear legroom.

2019 G-Class has Many Features Across Two Trims

Mercedes-Benz has introduced the G 550 and AMG® G 63 trim models. These SUVs are differentiated by their engine options, with the AMG® model being the more powerful of the two. However, both are nicely equipped with upscale features to add a serious layer of luxury to your off-road excursions.

Add the optional dual-screen panel, which stretches from the instrument panel to the dash, for intuitive access to infotainment options. The latest COMMAND® interface impresses as well, keeping you connected without distracting you from the road. Every G-Class wagon comes standard with a long list of upscale items - including tri-zone automatic climate control and leather upholstery. Ambient interior lighting gives the cabin a stylish glow. The Burmester premium audio system makes your favorite albums sound better than ever.

What's Under the Hood of the 2019 G-Class?

2019 Mercedes-Benz G-Class Exterior FrontWhen it's time to roll through rugged terrain, the new G-Class Wagon is ready and willing. You'll find a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 under the G550 hood. It's rated for 416 horsepower and 450 pound-feet of torque, so you can count on ample acceleration and a sporty ride through the wilderness. The engine is mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission that powers all four wheels via the 4Matic system. In addition to all-wheel drive, 4MATIC also features low-range gearing and three locking differentials to get you through difficult terrain. The selectable drive mode system lets you tailor transmission settings to suit your current surroundings, giving you a faster, smoother, or sportier performance.

For extra speed, check out the AMG® G 63. It upgrades performance with a hand-built version of the 4.0-liter engine that turns up the heat with 577 horses and 627 pound-feet of torque.
