What's New For the 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLA?
The Mercedes-Benz GLA-class, which was first introduced for sale in the United States in 2014, is still in its first generation. This means that aside from some minor changes in 2017, this model remains mostly untouched. The only notable change to the 2020 model is that Mercedes-Benz discontinued the AMG GLA 45 trim from the lineup.
Which Features are Available for 2020?
After removing the AMG GLA trim from this models lineup, the 2020 GLA only offers one standard trim level, available with either a front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive powertrain. So, every Mercedes-Benz GLA comes standard with Mercedes' Comand infotainment system, which is operated using a rotary knob near the center console. This system has features such as dual-zone climate control, Bluetooth, and HD radio. Optional features include a premium sound system, proximity keyless entry, navigation, smartphone integration, and more. This model has plenty of available features to make each drive as comfortable as possible.

How Does the GLA Engine Balance Power Needs and Fuel Economy?
Since Mercedes-Benz removed one of the GLA's trims, that leaves the 2020 model year with only one engine. This engine is a turbocharged four-cylinder engine that makes up to 208 horsepower. This provides this small model with plenty of zip, not to mention the responsive and smooth handling of this model. Taking turns is as comfortable as ever with this model, as it has even weight distribution and tires that always seem to have a tight grip on the pavement. However, many people are critical of this model's transmission, claiming that it struggles to find the right gear in high-stress situations that involve a lot of acceleration.
Additionally, the turbocharger on this model allegedly takes a few seconds to kick in before the true power of the engine can be felt. When paired with the all-wheel-drive powertrain, the GLA has enough ground clearance to operate in most suitable weather conditions. With the all-wheel-drive, this model averages 23 city and 31 highway miles per gallon. With the front-wheel-drive powertrain, the GLA's city average goes up to 24 miles per gallon. Either way, these are some of the best returns of the subcompact SUV class.
2020 Mercedes-Benz GLA Safety Features
This model offers tons of standard and available safety features, many of which are advanced driver assist technology. This means that this model has great crash prevention potential. Some of this model's important advanced safety features include automated emergency braking, driver condition monitoring, adaptive cruise control, automated parking assistance, and more.
