Back in April we told you that Mercedes-Benz is planning to release their very first pickup onto the market, and just recently, we received news regarding the model’s name. According to sources, the luxury truck will continue the brand’s nomenclature, but don a special moniker that will separate it from its peers and fellow Mercedes-Benz models alike.
Word around the automotive world suggests the future Mercedes-Benz pickup truck will be called the X-Class or Z-class. With no other models in the Mercedes-Benz lineup bearing a similar nameplate, this will give the pickup an identity all its own. In addition to this news, we also know that the luxury vehicle is set to feature the same platform as the Nissan Navara NP300; however, it will be completely designed from head to toe by Mercedes-Benz. The company decided to utilize the Navara platform in order to drive down the cost of development, which in turn will lead to a lower MSRP, making the pickup truck more affordable for buyers.
When the new Mercedes-Benz truck arrives on the market, buyers will be able to choose between an entry level model designed for trade workers, a mid-range model developed to deliver more comfort and a top-of-the-line luxury model with all of the bells and whistles.
