Mercedes-Benz owners who like watching movies during long road trips will be happy to hear that Sony Pictures Entertainment and the IMAX Corporation are partnering with the automobile manufacturer to make IMAX Enhanced content from Sony Pictures' library available to view in Mercedes-Benz vehicles starting this summer.
RIDEVU, Sony's in-car entertainment service, will offer an enhancement to its services to allow the largest catalog of IMAX Enhanced movies from Sony's vast library, such as "Spider-Man: No Way Home," "Venom: The Last Dance," and "Uncharted." IMAX Enhanced is the only way to enjoy IMAX's signature picture and sound quality outside of a theater. IMAX Enhanced movies have been available for home viewing for a few years now, and this summer will be the first time they will be available through the RIDEVU service. IMAX Enhanced movies will feature IMAX's expanded aspect ratio, its proprietary DMR process, and DTS:X sound, which will be available in multiple languages.
RIDEVU is available in the United States, Canada, Japan, United Kingdom, Ireland, and Germany. It is designed for use in a car and allows passengers to stream, rent, or buy movies that can be viewed on built-in screens in vehicles or on iOS or Android devices passengers have with them.
The latest MBUX model will be the first Mercedes-Benz vehicle to allow for IMAX Enhanced movies this summer, but more Mercedes-Benz models will likely follow in the future.
