What's New for the 2018 Mercedes-Benz E-Class?

For 2018, Mercedes-Benz has added new coupe, cabriolet, and wagon styles to their E-class lineup. Advanced safety features and new engines are other new additions.

There are eight available trims for the 2018 Mercedes-Benz E-Class: Base E 300 4dr Sedan, Base E 300 4dr 4MATIC® Sedan, Base E 400 2dr Coupe, Base E 400 4dr 4MATIC® Sedan, Base E 400 2dr 4MATIC® Coupe, Base E 400 4dr 4MATIC® Wagon, Base E 400 2dr Cabriolet, Base E 400 2dr 4MATIC® Cabriolet. The wagon has the most seating capacity, with room for 7 people. The 4dr rear-wheel-drive sedan can seat up to 5 people. The rest of the styles have room for four. With the two Base E 300 styles and the 4MATIC® sedan and wagon, there is a choice of 12 exterior colors. Metallic colors come in Cardinal Red, Selenite Gray, Piedmont Green, Obsidian Black, Lunar Blue, Iridium Silver, Diamond Silver, and Dakota Brown. The other colors are Black, Polar White, Diamond White, and Selenite Gray Magno. With the two coupes and the two cabriolets, two additional colors are available for the exterior: Dune Silver Metallic and Emerald Green Metallic. However, the Dakota Brown Metallic, Piedmont Green Metallic, and Selenite Gray Magno are not available for the coupes and cabriolets. For all styles, the interior colors include black and various shades of grey, white, or brown.

The E-class comes equipped with entertainment options. There's the usual AM/FM radio. An aux audio input jack is included so you can hook up your own MP3 player or smartphone to the system. A WiFi hotspot will keep you connected to a 4G LTE internet connection. Smartphone integration is available for both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. You can stream your favorite music hands-free with Bluetooth. A voice-operated system also allows you to remain hands-free. HD radio and Sirius satellite radio is also an option.

Other notable features include remote keyless entry, automatic air conditioning in the front, driver footrest, day-night auto-dimming rearview mirror, and cruise control.

A Powerful Engine

2018 Mercedes-Benz E-Class ExteriorThe inline-4 engine that clocks in at 241 horsepower is available on the base trim and the Base E 300 4door 4MATIC® Sedan. All other styles have the V6 engine with 3.0L cylinders and 329 horsepower. The engine has an auto stop-start feature that helps reduce emissions and fuel consumption. All styles in the E-class lineup come with a 9-speed automatic transmission with overdrive, which improves gas mileage, and auto-manual. The base style has rear-wheel drive, along with the Base E 400 two-door coupe and the Base E 400 two-door cabriolet. The rest of the models have all-wheel drive.

Advanced Safety Features

2018 Mercedes-Benz E-Class RearThese models come with an automatic brake system and a traction control system. It prevents the wheels from losing traction. In the event of a crash, front airbags are equipped along with side airbags that are seat-mounted. Side impact beams will protect you against injury from a collision to the side. The Crosswind Assist Electronic Stability Control will take effect when you are driving and there are high wind gusts. It prevents your car from swerving to the side in heavy windy conditions. An S.O.S system is available if you have the COMAND® with navigation system installed. If you get in an accident, you can press the S.O.S button and a customer service specialist can notify emergency services for you.
